Free-Style Yoga Alliance
Why create a new alliance when there are so many alliances around the world!
To answer this we need to dig deep and go back to our own roots of learning yoga.
Learning yoga isn't easy, especially when your new and want to try yoga for the first time, where do you start, what style, what teacher, what studio, so many questions with so much information on tap from Google!
We both started yoga in our own ways, learning, understanding and trying different styles of yoga from Hatha classic to Hot yoga which increased our appreciation of how great an impact yoga has in the world. Raquel started yoga as it gave her an edge of controlling and managing stress at work, gave her the inspiration to practice yoga on a regular basis and reap the benefits. Gary started yoga to help rehabilitate a right shoulder injury, and to learn how to manage PTSD which led to helping other veterans around the world.
Yoga is more than an exercise or a regular routine of doing something in life, it is a complete lifestyle of enjoyment, motivation, inspiration and exploring life. Yoga can guide you to a peaceful, loving, caring life including living a healthy life, eating healthy food and being a human being.
Why another Yoga Alliance?
Free-Style Yoga Alliance was created to promote the practice of the roots of yoga, without limitations, barriers, ego´s, routine, or restrictions. Yoga is free to practice by everyone and anyone, any age, any gender, any colour or race as yoga does not discriminate or restrict anyone.
Our Alliance allows any student or teacher to dig deeper into their own yoga practice, developing their own style of yoga to suit their own personality not the teacher! Students become more aware of yoga practice, developing and practicing with guidance and encouragement. Teachers learn to explore first within, then transmitting this with personalised classes to their students with the understanding of teaching open free-style yoga, focusing on motivating and inspiring students to explore deeper.
Free-Style Yoga Alliance doesn't set any standards as Yoga has none, we allow the free practice of yoga as it has been done since its birth. Only promoting the exploration, and openness yoga has to offer through Yoga Teacher Training courses and retreats through a set of guidelines.
To summarise, a new alliance was created to focus on promoting yoga at its roots in the form of free-style yoga without limitations, control, restrictions, ego or closed groups. Yoga should be enjoyed by everyone and anyone that is physically and/or mentally capable of practicing an ancient lifestyle.
The Alliance also shares free guidlines for studios, schools and organisations that dont want to pay for something that should be free for use. These guidelines are some of the most robust in the industry and show that a majority of the teacher/student hours are accounted for investing in students.
